Today the Mighty Upsetter turns 70 years old.
We at the black ark thank you deeply for so many years of solid reggae. There will never be another producer who can top the sounds of Scratch, even if they had 400 years to attempt it.

This site will be primarily an online store where you can find my hand selected picks of what is out there that’s worth buying. Right now the shopping for Lee Perry stuff can be very daunting and confusing since there is so much stuff out there.
It’s tough to sift through his entire volume of work and decide what to buy, especially if you are new to reggae or newly hooked on Lee Perry’s style and sound. The site will have my personal picks, stuff that I like, and links to buy them, from various places including Amazon, and Eight for Eight music.

Trojan is offering up some downloadable purchases now, available through Itunes and some other venues. It will be nice to be able to pick and choose downloadable songs from some of these Trojan releases, they are notorious for overlap on alot of their pressings, so I can now start to bridge the gap between my vinyl and some of these outtakes and B-sides that will start becoming available.

The site’s Reggae/World section is currently headed by the Trojan feature, which sees writer Steve Yates telling the ‘Real Trojan Story’.
