Dallas has for a long time been in a Reggae live show drought. April

Though seems to have opened up the clouds and allowed the cool stream of

Reggae to flow through. In the words of Mark Wonder who so soulfully sing – "Where do we go from here? The voice of the people wailing from

The wilderness.

The Voice of the people was most definitely heard and KNON 89.3 Irie FM

Irie FMDallas www.knon.org came to the rescue, by presenting one of the

wickedest Reggae shows to date in Downtown Dallas.

With the presentation of: "The Original Wailers"

"The Original Wailers"

The entire KNON 89.3 Irie FM Reggae DJ Crew was honored to have "The

Original Wailers" come to town and do a benefit show for the

Reggae Format.

The Original Wailers – were unquestionably a delight for the Dallas massive. The concert was held on Saturday April 4th at the "Poor

David’s Pub" on Lamar St. There were so many pluses that it would

David’s Pub" on Lamar St. There were so many pluses that it would

have been hard for anything to go wrong. Good weather, wonderful

Location and friendly staff at Poor David’s, all contributed to a great onset, for what was to be a magical Reggae experience.

The Original Wailers

Just the word "Wailers" would bring the people out in Massive numbers.

However, there are so many groups touring right now under the

Guise of "Wailing". This leaves the fan base confused. The station received numerous

calls prior to their performance, wanting to know, exactly which Wailers were coming.

Recognizing this confusion – one of "The Original Wailers" featured Artist –

Junior Marvin phoned into the "Reggae Solutions" Solutions" radio show with host Queen Mushiya and DJ Steady Rankin and did a mini interview. The purpose of the interview was to assure the people that they were the Genuine "Original Wailers" and further enlightened them on exactly what was in store for them on Saturday night.

The Second featured lead of "The Original Wailers" –Al Anderson doesn't change much; he remains solid. He is who he has always been, since joining Bob Marley and the

Wailers in the 70's – magnificent! What he brings to the table an Electrifying sound.

To watch Al Anderson play the guitar; is amazing, the way he holds and strums it tender and passionately; it's like he's in his own world, yet also in-tuned to his surroundings; all the while keeping pace with the rest of the world. It was once commented that Al plays the guitar like "A tender moment with a love mate"!!! He personifies the lyrics "who feels it, knows it". There are no words powerful enough, to describe Al Anderson’s performance it's just magical. Whether Playing with the beat of "Get up stand up" or "Could you be loved" he does so full of compassion. Master blaster his is. When I look at Al and how he connects with his fans. I always come away thinking. What a class Act he is; even though he was tired from traveling (arriving In Dallas the very day of the concert) he still found time to come out after the Concert and talked to the fans, take pictures. After all of these years, he remains a very quiet and pleasant person. He too made many of Dallas Fans really happy. After-all how many performers can you actually say have

An honest part of Reggae history. A picture and conversation with Al Anderson is BIG in itself Reggae history! After all he traveled many roads, with a true Reggae Legend; Bob Marley! And can, with all honesty say he is one of "The Original wailers".

At one point Junior Marvin and Al Anderson joined together and sounded off each other-in a duo guitar set. Putting down some of the slickest sounds around!!! The dynamic duo was so tight, that they even had KNON 89.3 Irie FM station manager – Dave Chaos stunned shaking his head going " awesome, just awesome, can't say much more than that, AWESOME!!. This adoration coming from an avid heavy metal fan!

This adoration coming from an avid heavy metal fan!Junior Marvin’s statement to the audience was that "they were coming to

Rock the house." The Band proved without a doubt, that they are a powerhouse and a force to be reckoned with.

From the time The Original Wailers Band emerged from the dressing room and hit the stage. The crowd went wild, rocking, jumping up and singing each and every song that the Wailers sung. The Vocals were seriously hot with Junior Marvin on lead.

However; Erica Newell One of Jamaica’s most powerful female singers, was more than a compliment to Junior's lead. She is a commanding performer. If the crowd is not in motion once she steps on stage, they would most definitely have to be in a deep sleep!!!! Her energy is as high pitched as a 7.0 earthquake.

Exceptional Fan reaction!

A particular young lady in the crowd was so moved by the performance. Tears were running down her cheeks and she was crying "I just love these guys"! At another point we had to duck when the crowd started swaying back and forth, hands raised in the air singing an all time BMW favorite "One Love." The fans did everything but body surf. (smile)

That personal touch the band committed to the audience made this a Very Special Reggae experience.

Introducing:

Rohan Reid – a a celebrated Bass Player, has to be one of the brightest and skilled bassist coming out of Kingston, Jamaica at this time. People; he's young and already turning heads on the Bass, a man to surely watch. Just remember, you heard it here first.

I was privileged to speak with Rohan after the concert. And found him to be a delight.

His people accommodating personality alone makes him a great asset to

"The original Wailers" and coming straight out of Kingston Jamaica –

The birthplace of Bob Marley and the Wailers. You would expect no less from

Rohan. He gave the people the heartbeat sound of Reggae. Bass and Drums!!!Speaking o f Drums Paapa Nyarkoh – did you leave any skins on the

drums? Man! Paapa was beating those drums like he was beating for a

Spiritual revival. It's nice to hear Musicians play good music, but it's even more joyful to see them enjoying what they do. Paapa did his thing, showcasing his natural

Ability to control the drums. I would not have expected any less from

Paapa as he is hailing straight from the motherland. Paapa's drumming

Was like a musical wonder with a voice and message of its own.

Being more on the reserved side; Paapa has a smile so bright and infectious, so much so the fans found him approachable. They were not shy to ask him to take pictures also.

Jawge Hughes plays brilliantly wicked Keyboards – Elvis Presley used his voice

to hypnotize you. Jawge uses his energetic keyboards to keep you in a trance!

This unique ability did not go unnoticed here in Dallas. What we witnessed here in Dallas on April 4, is just a small sample of what Jawge is capable of. An accomplished singer, A Quiet and Gentle wonder; he was surely one of the fan favorites. Staying long after the show ended, taking pictures and talking with the massive. Nuff respect to Jawge as he’s

Provided, many a fan in Dallas something to talk about for a long time.

The entire Reggae DJ Crew, wish to extend our deep appreciation to Jawge for his connection with the Dallas massive.

Well actually: Jawge, proved to be a social butterfly (smile).

Jawge, proved to be a social butterfly (smile).

His mingling with the crowd did not end at Poor David’s pub. Jawge

Ventured into Dallas community of Rasta’s, visiting, DJ Jah Shepard’s place "Irie Connection." I am sure there are thousands of pictures floating around with Jawge’s face on it. I can guarantee you, because he took that extra step to connect with the fans, if "The

Original Wailers" choose to come back to Dallas again, this generosity will certainly

Be remembered.

Now don’t get me wrong the "Poor David’s Pub" was packed to capacity and that is always a good sign.

OK>>> I have to fess up… I am probably a little biased when it comes to

I have to fess up… I am probably a little biased when it comes to

Jawge. We both originally came from the same Reggae Camp, Mikey Dread’s DATC

Reggae Camp, Mikey Dread’s DATC

Jawge was backing vocals and Keyboards. I’ve always found Jawge to be a warm and generous Rastaman.

Having had such a long night we wound down for coffee at a local eatery, this made one young lady at the "Pancake house" in Oak Cliff especially happy. I do believe she gave our table, more than the usual treatment. Always, making sure Jawge was being taken care of. (Smile)… I guess he just has that magic touch, even one of Reggae Solutions crew members Alicia Could not quit from smiling' she says "a lot of Artists come to town,

Perform, get off the stage and maybe take two pictures and then you see them no more. Not Jawge he hung around met with the community; the real people that keep them up there, the people who support them, that’s important. It shows that he cared" she further says. "I liked hanging out with him and showing him the people of Dallas, it was a special moment for me. I’m looking forward to their next visit,

DJ Red Ghost said the Wailers were kickin"! What cemented it for me was when Jawge came out to the "Hood". It has been a long time since an Artist has ventured out to the community like that. It was like a breath of fresh air. I still can't believe he came to hang with us, spreading love like Bob Marley would. It was beautiful man, just

Beautiful". He goes on to say: "The last time this happened was when

Mikey Dread came through in 2002 and ate at Elaine's Restaurant in South

Dallas". DJ Red Ghost all choked up from the experience says "Jawge

shows that he has that Mikey Dread spirit getting out like that. All I

Can say is just beautiful".

Unfortunately; I did not get to meet – the other Female backingVocalist: Rochelle Bradshaw, however her performance was also notable. however her performance was also notable.

Going in, not really knowing much about her. I was really impressed by

Her special harmonizing abilities.

First rate, performance in a true Bob Marley and the Wailers fashion. Their ability to connect with a diverse crowd is immeasurable

You all will just have to see for yourself what a power-house this group

Is. The next time "The Original Wailers" are in your area, run don't

Walk to their concert. I can guarantee you an unforgettable experience.

As Steady would say " For reals."

Large ups to: The Radio DJ’s that were selecting before the Show: DJ
